Joel Greco – Trumpet/Vocals
Joel Greco aka “Dr. J” is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana and has played trumpet for over 25 years. He has been a member of several Jazz, Funk, and Swing bands and plays regularly in churches and as a soloist for weddings. He earned his PhD in Biomedical Sciences in New Orleans at Tulane University and played an active role in the musical rebirth of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. He has recorded and distributed a solo album of classical and baroque trumpet solos and is in production of his second. His musical influences include New Orleans legend Al Hirt, the Boston power funk trio Soulive, and horn-heavy bands such as Earth, Wind, and Fire and Chicago. In his career as a musician, Joel has played at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, on the grounds of the historic Mount Vernon estate outside Washington D.C., and Carnegie Hall.
Among Dr. J’s many experiences as a musician, his favorite performance setting is as part of a band in front of a dance floor full of people having a good time, or as they say in his native Louisiana, “Laissez Les Bon Temps Roule!” (Let the Good Times Roll!)
Dr. J is grateful for the opportunity to play with such a talented group of performers as those in KSB!
